INDE's AR Experience let NFL Fans “Meet their Idol” at the NFL Draft

Published: April 23, 2019

Pizza Hut and UK AR company INDE have combined to offer a unique photo opportunity for visitors to the NFL Draft with the Pittsburgh Steelers' JuJu Smith-Schuster with a custom-developed large-screen Augmented Reality installation. The interactive AR experience let fans have a realistic 3D encounter with Juju.  Visitors can choose a dance move they would like to perform with the wide receiver and return specialist, then record their moves and share their photos or videos online right away.

To get a fully immersive, live AR experience INDE had to capture Juju's movements in a green screen environment and integrate these 2D characters into a setting that usually operates with 3D animated characters.

INDE’s COO Alex Alanson commented “We’re delighted to work with Pizza Hut again, bringing NFL fans “up close and personal” with one of the most charismatic players in the league. It’s a real tribute to the quality of the work we do and how we deliver this on the ground when we work on prestigious projects such as this”.

The technology was introduced to NFL fans earlier this year at the Super Bowl LIII, but it wasn't the first interactive Augmented Reality experience INDE has created for a global brand's fan-centric campaign. In 2018 they developed a similar product for Adidas with Brazil and Real Madrid player Marcelo, which has been deployed in multiple locations and various events worldwide.
