Dubai Mall VR Park Launches INDE’s Large-screen AR Experience

Published: March 13, 2018

With over 1200 stores and more than 50 million visitors per year the Dubai Mall is the largest and most visited shopping and entertainment centre in the world. The latest, and arguably most exciting addition to the mall’s incredible selection of entertainment facilities is the newly-launched VR Park, a first-of-its-kind AR & VR attraction suitable for all ages and interests.

VR Park, owned and managed by Emaar Entertainment, a pioneer of innovative entertainment, leisure and retail concepts in the region, has been designed to blur the lines between perception and reality, using cutting-edge technologies such as Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. It features some of the most exciting and innovative location-based immersive experiences available – including BroadcastAR, a large-screen AR experience developed by INDE.

As people enter the ARena and step in front of the giant Augmented Reality screen, they instantly find themselves in a breathtaking 3D Augmented Reality world of their choice. The two AR screens installed at the VR Park allow visitors to stand side by side with some of the most realistic 3D animated dinosaurs ever created in an AR experience called Back to the Jurassic, or step into the freezing polar wild to meet orcas and seals with INDE’s Arctic Explorer experience. Users can also immerse themselves in the wonders of nature in Air, Land & Sea, a breathtaking AR experience created with National Geographic, or be sent on a mysterious journey to the heart of the Arabian desert in a brand new AR adventure custom-developed by INDE for VR Park.

INDE’s BroadcastAR system includes the photo and video generating module called SnapShare, capturing the most memorable moments of the AR encounters. SnapShare allows people to choose and share their favourite snapshots with just a few clicks using the dedicated kiosks on site.
