Tillys and INDE Launch a Revolutionary View into the Future of Digital Retail

Published: September 27, 2017

Tillys, one of America’s leading branded apparel retailers and INDE, a world leading Augmented Reality company have collaborated to create a revolutionary new approach to in-store digital display using Augmented Reality.

Utilising INDE’s BroadcastAR platform, INDE has installed an interactive digital display that places layers of Augmented Reality content directly onto the existing shop window. The system is designed to highlight and provide multiple streams of information and 3D content – effectively creating a three-dimensional media space through the entire store.

Using a custom-designed 3D calibration system built by INDE, all 2D and 3D content is matched to fit each store layout and offers total customisation of Augmented Reality offers as and when store layout is changed.

For the initial install, multiple pieces of 3D content was designed and built by INDE, including a custom made Vans skater to help promote the iconic brand. The first system was launched in one of Tillys flagship stores in Ontario, CA to provide a testbed for future store integration. Each system is controlled and monitored remotely by INDE.

Alex Poulson, INDE’s CEO said: “We’re so proud of our work with Tillys in California. Our BroadcastAR platform continues to adapt to new challenges and provide stunning results. This time we see it delivering on its promise of offering a next-generation media space unlike anything currently on the market. The retail sector provides a great opportunity for us as we try to place our unique approach to engagement in new areas. We think we have a huge amount to offer in retail and we hope Tillys agree.”

As an increasing number of institutions and companies in education and entertainment are looking at innovative ways to provide unforgettable experiences to their audiences, Augmented Reality has become one of the most sought-after technologies today, due to its ability to engage, educate and entertain in a unique way.
